She thought she wanted to be an inventor because of what she was told.
"My mother always said 'you have to do something good for your country,'" said the Makassar native.
But she is doing just that as an anchor for Metro TV. Tanzil is part of the "Metro Pagi" team, hosts "Editorial Media Indonesia," and does "Headline News" cut-ins.
She joined Indonesia's first news channel in 2008. Prior to that, she spent four years at RCTI, focusing on investigative journalism in her final year there.
Among her Metro TV highlights - covering the G-20 Speakers forum in South Korea in May 2001; live reporting of the Jakarta hotel bombings in July 2009; an in-depth look at the mudflow crisis in Sidoarjo, East Java, in 2008; and an investigative report on a major tax evasion case.
Tanzil is a graduate of Trisakti University in Jakarta. She is fluent in Bahasa Indonesia and English, and speaks conversational Mandarin.
