Ex FIFA President, Sepp Blatter critisized the decision to award the upcoming world cup to Qatar as a mistake. According to him Qatar is too small, while football and the world cup are too big for that.
In his first major interview since being acquitted in July of financial misconduct at FIFA, 86 year old Blatter told Swiss Newspaper tages anzeiger picking Qatar to host the world cup was a mistake. The former FIFA President repeated claims the decision was a result of secret political pressure, following pressure from the then UEFA President Michel Platini.
The Qatar decision has been marked by controversy, from allegations of corruption, to concerns over human rights violations, and working conditions for construction workers since it was first announced.
