Croatia to Adopt Euro AS Currency

On January 1st, the small balkan nation of about 4 million people known for its stunning adriatic sea coastline and resort islands, will join the free-movement schengen zone. Where most European union citizens are not subject to passport checks and become the 20th country to replace its national currency, Kuna with the common European one.

To adopt the Euro, Croatia had to fulfil since joining the EU in 2013. A set of strict economic conditions including having a stable exchange rate, low inflation and sound public spending.

After EU Finance Ministers gave Croatia the green light last July to join the Euro zone, the country’s central bank had to conduct extensive preparations for the transition to the common European currency.
