Eid Homecoming Travels to Increase by 14% This Year

The Indonesian Ministry of Transportation is predicting that movement of people travelling between cities during this year's eid celebrations will increase by over 14 percent, compared to Eid last year.
According to Indonesia's transportation minister Budi Karya Sumadi, that Eid homecoming travels this year will increase significantly as the government has already removed the Covid-19-related mobility and activity restrictions.
Based on a transportation ministry survey, as many as 123 points 8 million people will be travelling during the Eid Al-Fitr period, which marks the end of the fasting month and is a time when people typically travel back to their hometowns.
This is a significant 14 percent increase to 2022 when 85 point 2 million Indonesians travelled during eid.
The peak of outbound travel is predicted to occur on the 21st of April, with 17 point 7 million people forecast to be travelling between cities on that day.
