North Korea Launches Ballistic Missile Over Japan

North Korea State media released images showing what could have been the missile that Pyongyang launched over Japan on Tuesday (4/10/2022). At North Korea's most recent big military parade in April this year a series of transporter erector launcher trucks with six axles trundled through Kim Il Sung Square carrying pointy projectiles that could be the latest version of the Hwasong 12.

In January this year, North Korea's State news agency (KCNA) reported the test firing of a Hwasong 12 type ground to ground intermediate and long range ballistic missile. However, the exact location of the launch was not reported and only still images were published not video.

South Korea and The United States Air Force conducted air drills on Tuesday (4/10/2022) in response to North Korea's latest intermediate ballistic missile launch. The joint chiefs of staff said that Four South Korea's F-15k fighters along with four US F-16 Jetstook part in the drills. In the bombing drills a F-15k fighter jet fired two joint direct attack munition precision bombs at a target on the uninhabited Jikdo Island in the west sea.
