Jokowi Meets China's Foreign Minister at Merdeka Palace

On monday, China's Foreign Affairs Minister, Wang Yi visited and met Indonesia's President Joko Widodo at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta. 

In his courtesy call to the Indonesian President, China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi praised indonesia for its leadership of the 2022 G20 presidency, and also lauded president Joko Widodo's efforts in seeking a peaceful solution to the Russia, Ukraine war.

President Widodo and Minister Wang Yi, also discussed commitments to improve bilateral relations between China and Indonesia, including boosting trade. They also discussed projects between the two countries,including the Jakarta to Bandung high speed rail project.

In 2021 Indonesia and China's bilateral trade increased by 54% but Indonesia is still at a deficit. However, Indonesia's foreign minister said that Indonesia's trade deficit with China is continously declining.
