AFC Futsal Asian Cup: Saudi Arabia Edged Japan 2-1

Saudi Arabia edged Japan 2-1, in their AFC Futsal Asian Cup group D opener on wednesday in Kuwait City.

The Saudis came back from a goal down to take the lead in the first half and then held on as Japan pressured in the second to secure the three points. Nasser Zayed equalised in the 11th minute and Mohsen Mohammed scored on a tap-in in the 15th minute.

Japan will next take on Korea Republic on Friday (30/9/2022) while Saudi Arabia face Vietnam in the day's later match.

Hosts Kuwait opened its AFC Futsal Asian Cup group A campaign in a style, with a 7-2 defeat of Oman on wednesday in Kuwait City.

Kuwait started its domination after Abdulrahman Altawail scored on indirect kick in the 7th minute. He then also scored off a corner kick in the 23rd minute.

The win left Kuwait atop the group on goal difference  ahead of Thailand, which edged Iraq 3-2. Kuwait will meet Thailand next on Thursday (29/9/2022) while Oman will be aiming to bounce back against Iraq.
