Joko Widodo Orders Indonesian Officials to Start Using Electric Vehicles

President Joko Widodo has signed a presidential order to all government officials across Indonesia and for official operations to start using battery electric vehicles.

The presidential order signed on September 13th is into force Thursday in line with the government efforts to deter the use of imported fuel. Responding to the presidential order CEO of the state electricity company PLN Darmawan Prasodjo said the firm has prepared the infrastructure and supporting services to fulfill the order.

PLN has set 150 charging stations across Indonesia as of Wednesday and 110 additional stations are expected to be built by the end of 2022. Indonesia has stated that battery electric vehicle would become official vehicles during G20 Summit this coming November in Bali.
