Southeast Asia’s largest literary festival Ubud writers and readers festival runs between October 23rd and 30th in Ubud, Bali, Indonesia.
The festival this year was held under the theme of "Memayu Hayuning Bawana" which comes from Javanese philosophy and refers to harmonizing our shared world both physical and spiritual Ubud writers and readers festival interprets it as uniting humanity.
The festival’s 2022 program of events featuring not only writers but artists activists and performers from Indonesia and further fields.
The highlights include a celebration of the life and achievements of Indonesian author and activist Putu Oka Sukanta the recipient of the Ubud writers and readers festival lifetime achievement award and a discussion around Russia’s invasion of Ukraine with Ukrainian writers Oksana Maksy-mchwk and Maz Roso-chinsky.
Meanwhile, events outside the main program are poetry sessions, literary lunches, long table dinners, walking tours through rice fields and villages, book launches, and music performances.
