Groundbreaking of Hydro Power Plant in North Kalimantan

Indonesia's President Joko Widodo led the groundbreaking of the construction of the Mentarang Hydro Power Plant in Malinau, North Kalimantan. The Hydro Plant's Development will be funded through a consortium including Indonesian and Malaysian companies.

The Mentarang Hydro Power Plant is a part of the national strategic project and will be integrated with the green industrial park area in Bulungan, North Kalimantan dubbed the "Kalimantan Industrial Park Indonesia".

This is part of Kalimantan Industrial Park's vision of producing green products or goods produced via the use of clean and renewable energy.

The Mentarang Hydro Power Plant will cost USD2,6 or IDR40 trillion to construct, but once complete it will be able to produce up to 375 megawatts of energy.

Not only powering the green industrial park area in Kalimantan, The Hydro Plant will also provide more electricity to the Bulungan, region. The Mentarang Hydro Power Plant is aimed to be completed in 7 years time.
