Indonesia - South Korea Economic Ties

Indonesia sends hundreds of workers to South Korea, showing progress on Indonesia-South Korea comprehensive economic partnership agreement, or Cepa.

Most of  workers will work in manufactures and fishery indusrties in some cities in South Korea. For months, all of these Indonesian migrants workers had received trainings to improve skills. They also spent time to learn Korean and were introduced with Korean culture.

In a ceremony this morning, Indonesian President, Joko Widodo along with head of Indonesian migrant workers protection agency dispatched at least 597 migrant workers.  President Widodo said that, he has urged related ministries and institutions to fulfill the request and ensured that the workers posess expertise and skill, demanded by South Korean.

Indonesian Minister of Manpower, head of BP2MI, and South Korean ambassador to Indonesia, Park Tae Sung attended the ceremony.

In recent years, Indonesia and South Korea have established some deals ensuring private to private and  business to business cooperations, working under inter governmental cooperation scheme.
