Kuat Ma'ruf Gets 15 Years of Jail Sentence, Ricky Rizal Gets 13 Years

Judges at Indonesia’s South Jakarta District Court on Tuesday sentenced two defendants, who are linked to the country's top murder case of police Brigadier Yosua Hutabarat, to serve 15 and 13 years of imprisonment consecutively.

The first trial for defendant Kuat Ma'ruf was held in the morning. The panel of judges decided to sentence Kuat to 15 years of imprisonment due to his involvement in the pre-meditated murder of Yosua, along with his employer couple Ferdy Sambo and Putri Candrawati.

In a separate trial for another defendant Ricky Rizal, one of Sambo's adjutants, the judges sentenced Ricky to serve 13 years of imprisonment, also higher than the prosecutors' demand of 8 years.

Yosua hutabarat was murdered on July 8, 2022, on the plan of his superior, former two-star police general Ferdy Sambo. 

Sambo and his wife Putri Candrawathi were sentenced on Monday. Sambo received the death sentence and Putri received 20 years of imprisonment.

Another defendant in this case, Richard Eliezer, will hear his verdict on Wednesday.
