France Wildfires

Over one thousand firefighters struggled Thursday, to contain a major wildfire, that has burned a large area of Pine Forest in Southwestern France, as several European countries sent aircraft and other support, to help assist in the region already ravaged by flames last month.

Local authorities said, over seven thousand and four hundred hectares have been burned since Tuesday in the Gironde and neighboring landes region , as france, like other european countries, swelters through a hot and dry summe.

Wildfires in France have already forced the evacuation of about ten thousand people and destroyed at least 16 houses.

This week France is in its fourth heat wave of the year, as it faces what the government describes, as the country's worst drought on record.

Temperatures were expected to reach 40 degree celsius on thursday.
