10-Man Iraq Beat Indonesia 2-0 in Group A Operner AFC Cup 2023

10 man Iraq made a winning start to The AFC under 20 Asian Cup as Emad Mohhamed's side handed Indonesia A 2-0 defeat in their group A opener at Lokomotiv Stadium in Uzbekistan on Wednesday, (1/3/2023).

Hayder Abdulkareem gave the Iraqis the lead in the 28th minute before Shamoon Charbel. Shamoon was dismissed in the first half of injury time while captain Abdulrazzaq Qassim missed from the spot with 16 minutes remaining of an eventful group clash. Mohammed Jameel scored a late second for Iraq.

Meanwhile, hosts Uzbekistan got their AFC U-20 Asian Cup campaign off to a flying start with a solid 2-0 victory over Syria in group A on Wednesday.

8 minutes before the halftime break, the Bunyodkor Stadium erupted as Uzbekistan took the lead in style. Abbosbek Fayzullaev lined up a free-kick from the left flank sending a wonderfully struck into the far top corner.

Syria's woes were compounded midway through the second half as fayzullaev's in-swinging corner was first nodded by a Syrian defender then sent into the net by his teammate Zakaria Al Ramadan who scrambled to clear it at the far post.
