Heavy Rainfall Causes Floods Affecting National Roads in Indonesia

In Indonesia heavy rainfall has caused flooding in some regencies in Bengkulu Province. More severe floods are reported in North Aceh with more than 10 thousand residents have to be evacuated to safe shelters. 

Heavy rain continuously fell on Sunday until Monday morning and caused flooding in some regencies including Taba Penanjung, Karang Tinggi, and Pondok. Most parts reported one meter floods in their areas.

Those also are affecting hundreds of houses overall. A bridge is likely to be collapsed while floods are still covering main roads connecting Bengkulu Province to South Sumatra and Jambi Provinces.

Recently local Disaster Mitigation Agency has Evacuated people whose houses and neighborhoods are flooded.

Separately some rivers in north Aceh are overflowing causing floods in at least seven districts. Even a 180-centimeter floods are reported in some parts.

A report from a local disaster mitigation agency shows that so far eleven thousand locals are now living in safe shelters.  Most of them actually live along riverbanks
