Indonesian Foreign Minister, Retno Marsudi attended United Nations Human Rights Council 52nd assembly on February 27 in Geneva in which Indonesia confirmed that the country has applied for the human rights commission's membership nomination for the period 2024-2026.
According to Minister Retno during her press briefing from Geneva during the meeting, Indonesia conveyed three important points including encouraging countries to conduct real actions for humanity and respecting human rights is an absolute condition to maintain peace and stability.
Peace solutions for ending conflicts including in Afghanistan, Palestine, Myanmar, and Ukraine must be prioritized she said.
Minister Retno also explained the current measure that the government of Indonesia has committed that was admitting on the occurrence of 12 gross human rights violations in the past and apologizing for the victims and families as well as to the public in general.
