Scattered thunderstorms hit Chinese Capital Beijing on Sunday causing many areas pummeled by sudden hailstones. Miyun District in Northeastern Beijing was battered by hailstones on Sunday afternoon with the largest ones exceeding 2 centimetres in diameter. Hailstones also hit the city's central urban area on Sunday night. The hailstones were accompanied with gushes of strong wind and rain which disrupted traffic and posed safety concerns for some residents.
