The Jakarta-Bandung high speed railway is expected to ease challenges for commuters and modernize Indonesia's transportation industry. The 142 kilometers long railway is a flagship project under the China proposed belt and road initiative framework, marking the deepening cooperation between China, and Indonesia.
The railway will connect the indonesian capital Jakarta with west java's most populated city Bandung. With a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour it will shorten the travel time between the two cities from about two and a half hours by car to about 45 minutes by speed train.
Finance Director of The Railway, Zhang Chao said the Jakarta-Bandung high speed railway marks the progress of Indonesian society. People believe it will be a monumental step for millions of people that have to brave Jakarta's traffic daily.
