Novak Djokovic dropped just five games in his fourth-round match with Alex De Minaur winning 6-2, 6-1, 6-2 on Monday as he cruised into the final eight of the Australian open.
In one of his most dominant performances of late, the nine-time former champion showed few signs of the hamstring issue which has been troubling him in Melbourne and took his win after just two hours and six minutes on the court.
De Minaur became the last Australian to be eliminated from the main draw in his home tournament and was unable to cope with the power and precision of the former world number one who at one stage reeled off nine straight games.
Djokovic will now face fifth seed Andrey Rublev who fended off two match points and fought back from 5-0 down in the final set tiebreak in his win over Danish teenager Holger Rune.
