Floods due to torrential rains that hit several south Australian towns along the river Murray forced an evacuation on Tuesday (27/12/2022). State Premier Peter Malinauskas said the volume of water that has been coming down the river was the highest for more than 50 years.
Floodwaters have been sweeping down the Murray for weeks with peaks for towns downstream of Renmark still expected to come. One of the residents living in Renmark said that he had been doing everything in his power to keep the water at bay, but ultimately it was to no avail. No casualties or damages have been reported so far due to the floods.
