This year Indonesia is holding the chairmanship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Venues that will be used to host a series of meetings including ASEAN Summits were checked by President Joko Widodo last week.
Main meetings during Indonesia's ASEAN chairmanship will be held in Jakarta so on Friday President Jokowi accompanied by foreign minister Retno Marsudi and other related ministers and officials were checking the preparation in some locations including the Jakarta Convention Center in South Jakarta.
Indonesia brings "ASEAN matters: epicentrum of growth" as the year's theme during its chairmanship.
ASEAN consists of 10 member countries Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. And ASEAN last year officially accepted the membership proposal of Timor Leste to become its 11th member.
