Turning Food Scraps Into Energy in New York City

Around the world, large cities generate huge amounts of unusable food and other organic waste. A pilot project started about three years ago in New York City is adding food scraps to the existing wastewater treatment plant to be turned into biogas, and residents have embraced it with enthusiasm.
