Thousands of workers took to the streets in Paris to demand higher wages to keep up with inflation. The protest march capped a nationwide day of walkouts and transport strikes by French train drivers and other public sector workers that caused major commuter disruption in the capital.
There is deepening worker discontent in France and around Europe, with those demonstrating saying they can't make ends meet.
