Deadly Train Accident in Egypt, 1 Dead & 16 Injured

At least one person was killed and sixteen others were killed after a passenger train derailed North of Cairo on Tuesday.

State prosecutors said, the train derailed as it was traveling through the City of Qalyub on its way to the city of Menouf in the Nile Delta.

According to health authorities, at least twenty ambulances were dispatched to the scene and the injured were transferred to nearby hospitals.

Videos of the aftermath of the collision posted on Facebook show crowds of people and emergency services gathering around the carriages which remained upright after the derailing.

It was the latest in a series of rail accidents to hit the country in recent years.
