An earthquake of 5,4 hit Jayapura, Papua, Thursday (10/2/2023) afternoon causing the death of four people.
The tremor was felt strong in Papua and has triggered a floating cafe in Jayapura to collapse. Rescuers pulled seven people from the collapsed cafe, four of them died and three others survived.
According to Indonesia's Meteorology Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), it was a shalow earthquake that was felt from Jayapura to Kerom regency. In 2023 alone, Papua has experienced more than one thousand earthquakes.
Related with today's tremor, authorities are still collecting data on damage and financial loss.
