Jakarta: Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono welcomed the Permanent Representatives of ASEAN Member States to ASEAN (Committee of ASEAN Permanent Representatives/CPR), along with the Ambassador of Timor-Leste to ASEAN, during a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on June 5.
During the discussion, Minister Sugiono praised the substantial progress made within the ASEAN cooperation framework, particularly following the endorsement of the ASEAN Community Vision (ACV) 2045 at the 46th ASEAN Summit held in May 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Framed around the concept of “a strong, innovative, dynamic, and people-centered ASEAN,” the ACV 2045 outlines the long-term goals and strategic direction ASEAN aims to pursue over the next two decades.
“To enhance our ability to tackle both regional and global challenges, we must reinforce ASEAN’s institutional mechanisms—such as the CPR, the Jakarta communication channel, and also strengthen the ASEAN Secretariat and its headquarters in Jakarta,” said Minister Sugiono, quoted from Kemlu.go.id website.
He further highlighted the crucial role of the CPR in promoting the development of the ASEAN Community, facilitating cross-sector coordination, and maintaining robust partnerships with external stakeholders. According to him, the CPR's involvement is vital to realizing the goals set out in ACV 2045.
Minister Sugiono also extended his appreciation to Timor-Leste, which is set to become ASEAN’s 11th official member later this year.
