Jakarta: Australia's Ambassador Rod Brazier has presented his credentials to President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka State Palace in Jakarta May 6 2025.
“It is an immense honour to represent Australia as Ambassador to Indonesia,” said Ambassador Brazier, stated from the Australia’s Embassy Jakarta.
“Australia and Indonesia share an unbreakable bond, and I look forward to our partnership becoming closer, stronger and more mutually beneficial,” Ambassador Brazier added.
Ambassador Brazier was most recently Deputy Secretary in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, responsible for development and multilateral issues.
He has previously served overseas as High Commissioner to Solomon Islands.
In Canberra, he led the International Policy division in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet and has held a range of other senior positions across the Australian public service and the non-government sector.
Ambassador Brazier speaks fluent Indonesian. In 1990, he spent six months at Universitas Hasanuddin, Makassar. Later, he lived and worked in Jakarta for several years.
“My first time in Indonesia was when I had the opportunity to study at Hasanuddin University in Makassar for a semester. My experience as a student and living with an Indonesian family fostered in me a love for Indonesia’s rich culture and the heritage of its people,” added Ambassador Brazier.
“As Ambassador, I am very enthusiastic about strengthening the partnership between our two countries. I look forward to visiting various parts of Indonesia, meeting people from all walks of life. I also look forward to hearing stories, discussing and exploring new ideas to further develop our partnership,” he said.
Ambassador Brazier holds a Master of Arts, Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) (Asian Studies), Griffith University.
