Jakarta: The Indonesian government will roll out a series of economic stimulus programs through December 2025 under what is being called the 8+4 Program, following a directive from President Prabowo Subianto.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said the initiatives, prepared since the first half of this year, aim to safeguard economic stability while boosting productivity and social protection.
The package includes:

  1. Wage subsidies for employees earning below IDR10 million.
  2. Productivity improvement programs and internships for recent graduates.
  3. Expansion of government-funded income tax (PPh 21) incentives beyond labor-intensive industries.
  4. An extension of food aid for three months.
  5. Tax incentives targeting workers in hospitality and tourism sectors.
  6. Social protection for freelance workers such as online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers, covering accident, job loss, and life insurance, with government-backed subsidies.
  7. Access to housing financing through BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, including renovation and home ownership support.
  8. Cash-for-work programs in the transportation and housing sectors.
Airlangga noted that the total value of the package is still being finalized and will be set during an upcoming coordination meeting. He stressed that each ministry involved will follow clear timelines to ensure certainty for businesses and workers.

Framed as the 8+4 Economic Incentive Program, the package is expected to reinforce Indonesia’s economic fundamentals in the face of global uncertainty.
