President Urged Investment Bolster Direct Impact on Job Creation
Kautsar Widya Prabowo • 22 April 2026 15:55
Jakarta: Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani reported on investment realization for the first quarter of 2026 to President Prabowo Subianto.
During the meeting, the President paid particular attention to the quality of job creation from investment.
Rosan conveyed that the President's directive emphasized that investment should not only focus on realization figures. It should also have a direct impact on job creation.
"The President's message is that incoming investment, in terms of job creation, must also grow well, correctly, and with quality," Rosan said at the Presidential Palace Complex, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, April 21, 2026.
According to him, the government was asked to expedite all investment-related processes, including reducing regulations deemed to be hindering. The President also highlighted the importance of simplifying technical permits to prevent them from becoming a barrier to capital inflow.
"We must ensure that none of our regulations actually hinder us. Those regulations must also be in place; if they hinder us, they don't need to exist," he continued.
Furthermore, Prabowo also requested that Indonesia's investment climate continue to be improved to make it more competitive compared to other countries, particularly in Southeast Asia. The government will conduct benchmarking against ASEAN standards and best practices from OECD member countries.
Rosan reported that first-quarter investment realization reached IDR 498.79 trillion, or 100.36 percent of the IDR 497 trillion target. This figure increased 7.22 percent from the previous year.
This achievement was also accompanied by an increase in employment, reaching 706,569 people, an 18.93 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
