Bekasi: The Whoosh High-Speed Train experienced significant disruptions during the long weekend for the 2026 Chinese New Year holiday.
PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) recorded an increase of more than 20 percent compared to a typical weekend.
Eva Chairunisa, General Manager, Corporate Secretary of PT KCIC, revealed that Whoosh passenger numbers reached 24,381 people on Friday, February 13. The number surged again on Saturday, February 14, to a total of around 25,700 passengers.
"This figure is an increase compared to the average for a typical weekend, which is generally around 20,000 to 21,000 passengers per day," Eva said in an official statement on Sunday, February 15, 2026.
This positive trend is predicted to continue until the end of the weekend. Eva stated that as of Sunday morning, more than 12,000 tickets had been sold.
"As of this morning, more than 12,000 tickets had been sold. This number is predicted to continue to grow, reaching over 22,000 passengers per day," said Eva.
Eva explained that the increase in Whoosh users during the long holiday was driven not only by tourism activities but also by social gatherings.
"In addition to vacations, the increase in travel was also driven by people using this opportunity to visit family and friends before the start of Ramadan. This momentum also contributed to the high passenger movement between Jakarta and Bandung," Eva explained.
To handle passengers, KCIC ensures that all operations run safely and smoothly. They have optimally prepared facilities and infrastructure and increased staffing at all stations.
"During this long holiday, KCIC has also deployed dozens of service officers to ensure smooth passenger flow and maintain service quality," Eva said.
