Jakarta: President Prabowo Subianto has approved a three-year budget allocation for post-disaster recovery in Sumatra. The funds will be distributed across 23 key ministries and agencies, and 10 supporting ministries and agencies, to accelerate post-disaster reconstruction.
“The President has approved a budget of IDR100.1 trillion over three years, to be implemented over three phases,” said the Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, in Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Thursday, June 18, 2026.
The Head of the Sumatra Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Acceleration Task Force (PRR) explained that the budget would be disbursed in phases, with the first phase in 2026 allocated IDR 38.9 trillion, followed by IDR32.9 trillion for 2027, and IDR28.2 trillion for 2028.
The Ministry of Public Works, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Ministry of Transportation, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, and the Ministry of Housing and Settlements are amongst the several key ministries that will receive the funds. Most of the aforementioned institutions have submitted disbursement requests to the Ministry of Finance, with five reported to have already begun implementation of their programs.
“We ask for the support from the steering committee chairperson and its members to accelerate the process, as well as from the Minister of Finance to expedite the disbursement procedures,” remarked Tito.
The government will also allocate an additional IDR10.6 trillion through the Regional Transfer (TKD) scheme. The budget is to be distributed across three provinces in Sumatra as directed by the President.
Tito explained further, “IDR1.6 trillion will be allocated for Aceh, IDR2.3 trillion will be allocated for West Sumatra, and IDR 6.1 trillion will be allocated for North Sumatra."
The former National Police Chief expressed his hope that the ministries, institutions, and regional governments would utilize this budget to ensure the swift and effective restoration of the public facilities in the affected regions.
“We held a meeting in Banda Aceh with the governors, regents, and mayors, to ensure that these funds are mobilized immediately to address the urgent needs of their respective regions,” Tito emphasized.
Tito added that the post-disaster recovery progress in several areas had shown relatively good progress, and that they remained on track. He further noted that 97 percent of the temporary housing units had been built.
He claimed that recovery indicators exhibited positive trends across various vital sectors, including government operations, health services, education facilities, infrastructure repairs, and the provision of temporary housing.
