Jakarta: Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia had just convened the 9th edition of Conference on Indonesian Foreign Policy 2025 (CIFP 2025) on Saturday, 29 November 2025 with a grand theme of 'Preparing for the Next World Order: Indonesia, the Global South, and the West', at the Kasablanka Hall, Mall Kota Kasablanka Jakarta. The theme aimed to highlight the global transition from the Western world order to a new structure full of uncertainty, great power competition, and the increasing role of middle power countries such as Indonesia. The conference is attended by 6200+ public registrants, 100+ Partners, and 70+ Journalists.
The yearly conference opened by Dr. Dino Patti Djalal, Founder and Chairman of FPCI emphasizing that the next world order is upon by by 3 reasons, mainly:
"First, in the Next world order, the primacy of the West is over. Not because they are declining, but because others and many others are rising. Second, the American unipolar moment is gone due to the new distribution of power, no matter what the United States does, it can never reclaim the unipolarity they enjoyed briefly after 1991. Third, the next world order will be characterised by the rise of the middle powers …. We at FPCI really believe that the middle powers will play a decisive role in shaping the Next world order."
Dr. Dino also added that Indonesia cannot afford to be a spectator in a world that is rapidly shifting. Taking the note that Indonesia has always been the one nation that takes initiatives on the global stage.
"I want to remind you that the history of Indonesia's diplomacy is taking a pioneering role in a changing world. Our foreign policy tradition is not just about what is good for Indonesia. But also how we can fix the region and the world. This is why Bandung, Non-Aligned Movement, and ASEAN and UNCLOS. This tradition must never be lost to our diplomats. They must demonstrate that the power of our diplomacy rests on the power of our ideas and ideals. Our foreign policy establishment must always be intellectually competitive, and have the courage to take a stand and take risks for a better world."
CIFP 2025, in essence, serves as a platform to discuss key international issues for enthusiasts, activists, thinkers, and practitioners of international relations. According to the Indonesian Museum of Records, CIFP is the world's largest annual international relations conference. This conference serves as a benchmark for public narratives and debates on international issues impacting Indonesia's interests and serves as a platform for testing new ideas on Indonesian foreign policy. In addition, CIFP also functions as a strategic 'doorstop' opportunity for Indonesia’s foreign policy figures, offering everyone a primary space to capture key statements, summarize Indonesia’s foreign policy direction, and understand Indonesia’s position on various international issues.
The conference featured the most pressing and recurring challenges, ranging from the G20 Summit, developments in Gaza, and how Indonesia can maximize its role under a President who is highly active in diplomatic affairs as the world transitions into a new global order, namely:
