Tolikara: Five civilian construction workers from PT Sutan Harauli Jaya (PT SHJ) were killed in a shooting near Kanggime, Papua Highlands, in the early hours of Monday, August 3, 2026.

“Five PT SHJ workers were killed in a shooting by an armed group at 3:28 a.m. WIT. An evacuation operation is currently underway,” Colonel Tri Purwanto, Head of Information for the Cenderawasih Regional Military Command, said, as reported by Antara.

Authorities have yet to reveal the identities of the victims or the full chronology of the attack.

The shooting marked the latest in a series of terrorist attacks targeting civilian workers across Papua Highlands, with three civilians shot near the Trans-Papua Road in Seradala just weeks earlier, on Monday, July 20, 2026.

The previous attack was allegedly carried out by the Free Papua Movement (OPM), with footage of the incident circulating widely on social media.
