Jakarta: Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund Danantara is targeting Rp1 trillion in corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds from state-owned enterprises (SOEs) to support disaster relief and recovery efforts in flood- and landslide-hit areas of Sumatra.
Danantara Chief Executive Officer Rosan Roeslani said the CSR funds are being channeled primarily toward the construction of temporary housing for disaster survivors.
“The involvement of SOEs enables the government to respond swiftly to disasters, without being constrained by budgetary and administrative processes that often delay the disbursement of state funds,” Roeslani said during a meeting in Aceh on Thursday, as quoted by Antara on Friday 2 January 2026.
He added that SOEs have so far disbursed Rp655 billion for the development of temporary housing complexes in affected areas.
The housing projects are being built on land owned by state plantation firm PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN), with multiple SOEs participating in construction and logistical support.
Construction began on December 24 to accommodate residents displaced by flash floods and landslides that struck parts of Aceh and other regions in Sumatra in late November 2025.
So far, 600 temporary housing units in Aceh Tamiang District, Aceh, have been completed and are ready to be handed over to local authorities. The facilities will provide shelter for disaster victims while permanent housing solutions are prepared.
Danantara is targeting the construction of up to 15,000 temporary housing units over the next three months across disaster-affected areas in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.
