Jakarta: Indonesia has deployed the Garuda Merah Putih II Task Force on a humanitarian mission to Gaza, Palestine, delivering 800 tons of aid including food supplies, blankets, and medicines.

“This task force is a direct order from the President of the Republic of Indonesia, carried out through an airdrop operation,” said Secretary General of the Ministry of Defense Lt. Gen. Tri Budi Utomo, as quoted by Prioritas Indonesia, Metro TV, on Wednesday, August 13, 2025.

The mission was flagged off by Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Commander Gen. Agus Subiyanto at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base. A total of 66 personnel from the TNI, government ministries and agencies, the National Alms Agency (Baznas), and national media outlets departed for Jordan aboard two Super Hercules aircraft.

“The aid will be directly distributed using a low-cost, low-altitude method, which is considered safer than other delivery methods,” Tri explained.

Agus highlighted the mission’s strategic significance, as it coincides with the 80th anniversary of Indonesia’s independence. He also reminded the 66 Garuda Merah Putih personnel to work professionally and ensure that the humanitarian assistance reaches its intended recipients.

The mission will run for 12 days, with plans to reach 10 drop points in Gaza.

“This humanitarian aid mission will take approximately 12 days from departure to completion,” Tri said.
