Amman: President Prabowo Subianto received a warm and honorable welcome upon his arrival in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Touching down at Marka Military Airport in Amman on Sunday, April 13, 2025, President Prabowo was greeted by King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein in a ceremonial reception rich in symbolism, reflecting the deep friendship and mutual respect between the two nations.
A notable highlight occurred as the presidential aircraft entered Jordanian airspace, where it was escorted by several Jordanian Air Force fighter jets all the way to landing.
As President Prabowo descended the aircraft stairs, King Abdullah II greeted him personally with a firm handshake and a heartfelt hug, underscoring the close personal bond between the two leaders.
They proceeded side by side past the honor guard, introducing their respective delegations before ascending the main podium. The national anthems of both countries were played solemnly, accompanied by a 21-gun salute as a mark of formal respect.
Following the official ceremony, both leaders watched a flyover by Jordanian fighter jets. One of the most striking moments was when King Abdullah II personally drove the car that transported President Prabowo to his hotel—an extraordinary gesture of personal friendship, with President Prabowo seated beside him.
“This state visit not only reinforces diplomatic ties between Indonesia and Jordan, but also symbolizes the strong camaraderie between the two leaders, set in an atmosphere of deep respect and kinship,” stated Setkab.go.id on Monday, April 14, 2025.
Accompanying President Prabowo were Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar, Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and Indonesian Ambassador to Jordan Ade Padmo Sarwono.
