Jakarta: State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi likened the management of the national economy to that of a football team, emphasizing the need for close coordination to achieve success.

“With the World Cup currently underway, it is befitting to use the analogy of a football team. Managing the economy is like managing a football team; everyone must coordinate with one another,” Prasetyo Hadi remarked in a press statement following a meeting between the House of Representatives (DPR) and the government on Monday, June 29, 2026.

He explained that such coordination requires the exchange of input when formulating policies – whether related to macroeconomic issues, fiscal policy, or the real economy.

“One example is the management of our industrial gas needs,” Prasetyo Hadi elaborated.

Discussions on industrial gas needs involved various stakeholders, including representatives from the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu), Bank Indonesia (BI), the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), the DPR, and the National Economic Council (DEN).

“Today’s meeting was insightful, as our colleagues from the DEN presented their views and suggestions. We hope to strengthen this coordination moving forward to ensure that our economy continues to progress,” Prasetyo Hadi said.

Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI Sufmi Dasco Ahmad revealed that the meeting aimed to develop solutions amid global economic uncertainty.

“Today, several solutions were put forward regarding various issues that have emerged recently,” Dasco noted.
