Jakarta: A fire engulfed a warehouse in the Cakung, East Jakarta, late Monday night and burned into the early hours of Tuesday, prompting an emergency response from firefighters.
“The fire broke out at 22:35 WIB on June 29, 2026. It was fully extinguished at 03:57 WIB on Tuesday,” Abdul Wahid, Head of Operations at the East Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency, said, as quoted by Antara.
Eighty firefighters and 16 fire engines were deployed, arriving at 22:48 WIB and beginning firefighting operations within minutes.
“The blaze was contained by 00:35 WIB. Personnel then carried out cooling operations to prevent the fire from reigniting,” Abdul explained.
The 700-square-meter warehouse was first discovered ablaze by a security guard who noticed thick smoke billowing from the locked building.
“Shortly thereafter, the fire intensified, and the fire department was called,” Abdul said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and losses are yet to be assessed. “There were no reports of fatalities or injuries,” Abdul remarked.
