Jakarta: An inferno broke out aboard a vessel docked at Nizam Zachman Port, prompting an emergency response from the North Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency.
Firefighters were alerted to the blaze at 7:58 p.m. WIB and arrived at the scene shortly thereafter, at 8:03 p.m. WIB.
A total of 70 personnel and 20 fire trucks were deployed to contain the fire.
Following intensive firefighting efforts, the agency said the flames had been brought under control.
Head of the Jakarta Search and Rescue Office, Desiana Kartika Bahari, confirmed that there were no casualties in the fire.
She added that the KN SAR Ramawijaya, a 40-meter search and rescue vessel operated by the Mentawai Search and Rescue Office, had been undergoing annual maintenance when the incident occurred.
“The cause of the fire is currently unknown. We will hand the case over to the police for further investigation,” Desiana said.
