Massive Relief Operation Moves 1,954 Tons of Aid to Over 188,000 Survivors to NTT

Flores: Emergency response teams across East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) have mobilized a massive logistical campaign following a devastating magnitude 7.7 earthquake on Flores Island.

Indonesia’s National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) confirmed that nearly 1,954 tons of aid have been successfully funneled to hard-hit communities, achieving a 98.39 percent distribution rate for all supplies received between August 15 and August 30.

Reaching displaced families across the archipelago has required a heavy multi-modal effort. Over 1,000 tons of logistics were deployed through the government's Ready-to-Use Fund, while the Indonesian Air Force airlifted 565 tons directly into the region.

The remaining cargo moved by sea and land, with Maumere and Labuan Bajo serving as the primary distribution nerve centers.

The relief pipeline remains actively open to meet immediate humanitarian needs. Just Sunday morning, an additional 21-ton shipment landed in Labuan Bajo after launching from Halim Perdanakusuma in East Jakarta.

While the total number of displaced residents dropped by over 4,000 in a single day, the displacement crisis remains acute. A staggering 188,161 people are currently staying in evacuation camps across the region, with the heaviest concentrations reported in Nagekeo and Manggarai districts -,each housing over 50,000 evacuees,- alongside significant numbers in East Manggarai, West Manggarai, Ngada, Sikka, and Ende.

The disaster's human toll remains severe as thousands of aftershocks continue to rock Flores Island.

The official death toll stands at 111 casualties, with Manggarai suffering the highest loss of life at 45 fatalities, followed by East Manggarai with 38 and Nagekeo with 13. Search, rescue, and ongoing distribution efforts remain active as authorities work to stabilize the affected districts.
