Jakarta’s Evaluates School Safety Standards After SMAN 72 Incident

Jakarta: The Jakarta Provincial Government will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of school safety standards, including strengthening safety procedures across all educational institutions in Jakarta. This evaluation follows the explosion at SMAN 72 Jakarta on Friday, November 7, 2025.

This was conveyed by Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno after visiting the victims of the explosion at SMAN 72 Jakarta at Cempaka Putih Islamic Hospital and Yarsi Hospital in Central Jakarta on Sunday, November 9, 2025. He urged the public to remain calm, refrain from spreading unverified information, and actively participate in the Jaga Jakarta program to maintain a conducive situation.

"We understand the concerns of the parents and families of the victims. Let's use this incident as a shared lesson to be more vigilant and strengthen a culture of security in our community," said Rano, as reported by Antara, Monday, November 10, 2025.

He emphasized that all handling steps were carried out transparently, quickly, and in a coordinated manner. He ensured that all students affected by the incident received the best medical care, full support, and comprehensive treatment.

Teaching and learning at SMAN 72 has been temporarily shifted online to support the physical and psychological recovery of the students.

"The safety of students and educators is our top priority. We want to ensure not only physical recovery, but also the mental health of the children and teachers," said Rano.

Meanwhile, all medical costs are being fully covered by the Jakarta Provincial Government, as a form of responsibility and concern for the safety of the community, especially students.

In addition to medical treatment, the Jakarta Provincial Government, through the Health Office and the Education Office, has deployed teams to conduct psychological assessments and provide support for students and educators affected by the explosion.
