Jakarta: Pintu Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Timothius Martin highlighted the growing adoption of crypto globally and Indonesia’s conducive domestic market, noting that the country’s regulatory framework stands out as one of the most advanced in Asia.

“Indonesia has the potential to become a global role model. The establishment of the CFX crypto exchange, along with custodial and clearing institutions, has strengthened security for Indonesian crypto users,” Timo said in a written statement on Sunday, August 24, 2025.

Amid favorable global adoption trends and Indonesia’s supportive market environment, Pintu also reported strong performance. By July 2025, the Pintu app had been downloaded more than 10 million times, with Monthly Trade Users (MTU) reaching their highest levels since 2021.

“Pintu Futures, our crypto derivatives trading product, also hit a record high, growing over 170 percent month-on-month. This proves Pintu has become the go-to app for Indonesians investing and trading crypto assets,” Timo added.

Pintu also took part in Coinfest Asia 2025, a major annual gathering for the crypto community in Asia. The company showcased a series of activities including a cyberpunk-themed Crypto Museum, the Pintu Futures Live Trading Competition, and a media gathering titled ‘Embracing the Full Moon: Mass Adoption of Crypto and Innovations in Indonesia.’

Stablecoin Potential in Indonesia

IDRX Co-Founder & CEO Nathanael Christian expressed hopes that Indonesia’s dependence on the U.S. dollar could be reduced. He noted that over 99 percent of crypto investors use U.S. dollar-backed stablecoins, effectively channeling Indonesian rupiah into U.S. Treasuries.

“We need to address this together with regulators and industry players like Pintu, so we can start using the rupiah for crypto activities in Indonesia. The goal is not just about utility but about strengthening the sovereignty of the rupiah,” he said.

Female Web3 developer Febi Mettasari stressed the importance of community as a platform for users to learn about crypto and Web3. However, she acknowledged that trading communities remain the most popular as the current use case is still largely trading-focused.

“I hope there can be more balance, so Indonesians not only understand trading but also other blockchain use cases. Developers also need regulatory support to ensure Indonesia doesn’t fall behind in the global race for Web3 adoption,” she said.

Pintu’s activities at Coinfest Asia 2025 attracted nearly 1,000 attendees, who enjoyed a range of interactive activations from boxing arcades and digital art to music performances. Timo concluded by reminding crypto investors and traders in Indonesia to remain wise and avoid being driven by FOMO.

“We are encouraged by crypto adoption in Indonesia. What we need now are more figures like Nathanael and Febi who enrich the ecosystem. We fully support Web3 development in Indonesia to expand crypto use cases beyond just trading and investment,” Timo said.
