Banda Aceh: An Indonesian migrant worker (PMI) from Alur Manis Village, Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh, identified as Putri Hensy Aprilda (22), and her infant, have reportedly died.
The two are believed to have been victims of murder in Sepang, Selangor, Malaysia.
“Based on information we received from the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, the suspected perpetrator is a Malaysian woman,” said Haji Uma, a member of the Aceh Regional Representative Council (DPD), as reported by Antara on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.
The National Police Criminal Investigation Agency's (Bareskrim) Identification Center (Pusident) successfully identified the victims. Moving forward, the Police Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur and the Aceh Bersatu (GAB) Joint Team in Malaysia will work together to locate the victims’ family.
According to Haji Uma, the victim’s infant was found deceased by local residents and taken to Klang Hospital. The infant’s remains are currently at Shah Alam Hospital, whilst Putri Hensy’s remains are at Serdang Hospital, Selangor.
“The perpetrator was arrested on June 19, 2026, and is undergoing legal proceedings in accordance with applicable Malaysian law,” he added.
Information received from the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur points towards a suspected debt motive. The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) reportedly has strong evidence related to the crime.
If found guilty, the perpetrator could face the maximum penalty under Malaysian law – the death penalty or life imprisonment.
“The Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur will continue to monitor the PDRM’s investigation and coordinate the handling of the victims’ remains,” said Haji Uma.
Haji Uma expressed his appreciation to the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur and the Police Attaché for their cooperation and swift response in handling the case.
The cost of repatriating the two bodies is estimated at IDR36 million. His office has opened donations through the Aceh Bersatu Group and the Aceh Meutuah Group in Malaysia to assist with the repatriation process.
“God willing, we will work together to repatriate the remains through a coordinated effort between myself as a member of the Regional Representative Council (DPD RI), the Aceh Tamiang Regency Government (Regent Armia Fahmi), local datok, and Acehnese residents in Malaysia. Hopefully, the funds will be raised soon, and the process will run smoothly,” he said.
Putri Hensy was an orphan who had been living with her grandmother under modest economic conditions. She had worked in Malaysia for three years prior to her passing.
