Amman: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto met with King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of Jordan in a bilateral meeting held at the Al Husseiniya Palace in Amman, the capital of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

King Abdullah warmly welcomed President Prabowo on his first official visit to Jordan as head of state, expressing deep appreciation for the long-standing personal and diplomatic ties between the two leaders.

“Brother, it is an honor to receive you here,” King Abdullah said, as quoted by Setkab.go.id on April 15. “Our friendship dates back to our early days as young soldiers, and I will always hold that bond close.”

The King also underlined Indonesia’s growing influence on the global stage, particularly in addressing the escalating instability in the Middle East, including conflicts in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria.

“I am confident that under your leadership, Indonesia will play a crucial role in helping us navigate these challenges,” he added.

President Prabowo echoed the sentiment, thanking King Abdullah for his warm hospitality and acknowledging the strong ties not only between the two leaders but also between Indonesia and Jordan.

“Jordan has long been a trusted friend of Indonesia, and we feel a deep sense of solidarity with you,” President Prabowo stated.

“Both our nations stand firm in supporting the rights of the Palestinian people,” added President Prabowo.

Reaffirming Indonesia’s commitment to Palestinian independence, Prabowo called for a just and balanced peace process in the region.

“Indonesia fully supports the Palestinian people’s right to independence and sovereignty,” he affirmed.

The two leaders also discussed ways to deepen bilateral cooperation, particularly in agriculture. President Prabowo expressed interest in Jordan’s advancements in agricultural technology, noting his desire to explore potential partnerships.

“Jordan’s progress in agriculture is impressive, and we’re eager to learn from your experience. I’ve brought along our Minister of Agriculture to help ensure these discussions lead to meaningful collaboration,” he said.

The meeting marks a new chapter in the strategic relationship between Indonesia and Jordan, laying the groundwork for strengthened cooperation not only at the governmental level but also among the peoples of both nations.
