Yogyakarta: Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (Danantara) mentioned that the electric from the construction of Waste-To-Electricity Management (PSEL) in Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY) would capable to supply electricity to 15 thousands houses in that area.

The Investment Director of Danantara Fadli Rahman, after a meeting with the Governor of Yogyakarta Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, said that for PSEL operational in Yogyakarta must be supplied by at least a thousand ton trash in a day from Bantul Regency, Sleman, and City of Yogyakarta.

“In average around a thousand tons of trash is equivalent to 18 until 20 megawatt, depends on its own design. So the generated electricity will power around 15 thousand houses in Yogyakarta,” said Fadli, as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, August 12, 2026.

According to him, the electricity from that installation will be bought and managed by State Electricity Company (PLN)  before being distributed to the houses, so that there will be an agreement or signing a MoU between the government and PLN.

PSEL Yogyakarta Will Be Build In The Beginning of 2027

According to the Investment Director of Danantara Fadli Rahman, the measure is taken by the government together with PLN to manage electricity generated by PSEL already operating in the other regions.

“In accordance with the President Regulation Number 109 in 2025, PSEL electricity will be bought by PLN with price USD 20 cent per kWh. This one will cover a 30 years partnership. The electricity will reach 18 until 20 megawatt per day consistently,” he said.

Thus, the electricity generated by PSEL will be paid directly by PLN. Meanwhile the regional government does not incur any electricity costs, rather than the cost of waste disposal, or the operational of waste volume.

“There are some potentials to increase the local revenue, including from tax, job opportunities, and bottom ash, which will be a product other than electricity that will be collaborated with local businesses,” he said.

According to him, the project of PSEL Yogyakarta which near Yogyakarta Integrated Waste Management Facility (TPST) will be built on a 5,7 hectares plot of land with investment value Rp2,5 until Rp3 billion.
