Jakarta: State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi confirmed President Prabowo Subianto's commitment to increasing the national research budget by IDR 4 trillion.
The additional funding will prioritize applied research capable of delivering solutions to critical grassroots issues.
“All research initiatives we currently undertake must align with our roadmap,” Prasetyo said at the closing of the National Symposium of the Indonesian Science, Technology, and Industry Convention (KSTI) in Jakarta, as reported by Antara on Sunday, June 28, 2026.
The national research roadmap, Prasetyo explained, is currently being formulated between Bappenas (National Development Planning Agency), the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek), and the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN).
The roadmap aims to produce concrete innovations that will address public needs, including research on waste management and the transition from LPG to CNG.
During the same forum, President Prabowo Subianto called on higher education institutions to serve as hubs of innovation amid rapid advancements in global science.
“The nation’s full potential can only be realized through a united effort. We must conjure innovative ideas and initiatives for our collective good, for our survival, and for the prosperity of the Indonesian nation,” Prabowo said.
