Rio de Janeiro: President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto was also present and emphasized Indonesia's full support for the new direction of BRICS cooperation.

The meeting with the leaders of BRICS member countries in 2025 resulted in a number of strategic agreements contained in the Leaders' Declaration, with a focus on strengthening multilateralism, global peace, economic cooperation, and sustainable development.

"Then the outcomes of the meeting earlier, one of which was the leader declaration and in the leader declaration there were several points related to strengthening multilateralism and reform of global governance," said Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto in his statement in Rio de Janeiro, on Sunday, July 6, 2025, quoted from Setkab.go.id, Tuesday 8 July 2025.

The second point focuses on strengthening international peace and stability, as well as deepening cooperation in the fields of economics, trade, and finance. For Indonesia, this agenda is very important in expanding market access for national products and creating economic resilience amidst global turmoil.

"Now this second point is important for Indonesia in the midst of uncertainty, we have BRICS which is expected to also be able to absorb the market for Indonesian products," explained Airlangga.

The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs also explained that the third point in the declaration concerns the commitment to the issue of climate change and sustainable development that is fair and inclusive. BRICS countries agree that the energy transition and green development must continue to consider justice for developing countries.

"Then the third is of course related to climate change and promoting sustainable, which is fair and inclusive development," said Airlangga.

The fourth point of the Leaders' Declaration is strengthening partnerships in the field of human, social, and cultural development. Indonesia considers this cooperation important to encourage equitable social transformation and mutual reinforcement among member countries.

"The fourth is partnership for promotion, human, social, and cultural development. Well, that is the outcome of the leaders' declaration," said Airlangga.
