Jakarta: Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago has emphasized that cybersecurity is a key pillar in safeguarding data security and strengthening Indonesia’s national defense against information attacks.
Chaniago made the remarks while opening the 2026 Executive Town Hall of the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) in Depok, West Java, on Monday.
“Cybersecurity is no longer an option but a necessity. It is an absolute prerequisite for maintaining political stability, national security, and sustainable development,” Chaniago said, as quoted in a ministry press release.
He noted that cyber threats are evolving far more rapidly than regulatory frameworks, underscoring the need for an adaptive and responsive approach to effectively anticipate emerging risks.
Looking ahead to 2026, Chaniago warned that challenges will become increasingly complex, driven by the rise of artificial intelligence–based attacks, quantum computing, and the widespread use of deepfakes for large-scale disinformation.
He called on all BSSN personnel to respond swiftly to global cybersecurity developments to ensure a strong and resilient national defense posture.
Through close collaboration and a strong spirit of nationalism, Chaniago expressed confidence that BSSN will continue to serve as the government’s frontline institution in countering cyber threats and information warfare.
“I invite all BSSN personnel to remain steadfast as the nation’s strategic guardians,” he said.
In December 2025, BSSN and the Ministry of National Development Planning signed a cooperation agreement to strengthen human resource development through education, training, and competency enhancement programs in cybersecurity and cryptography.
