Padang: The Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) Team of the West Sumatra Regional Police has confirmed that 200 people have died in the recent disaster that devastated multiple areas across the Minangkabau region. As of Thursday, December 4, 2025, authorities have successfully identified 174 of the victims.

According to the DVI report, the identified victims include 86 men and 87 women. The remaining 26 victims — 14 men and 8 women — are still undergoing forensic examination.

Investigators have also recovered several isolated body parts, including a thigh, a lower trunk, and a right leg, which are still being analyzed.

The identification process is being carried out at several DVI posts and referral hospitals across West Sumatra. At the Padang DVI Post, operated jointly with Rasidin Regional Hospital, all five bodies received have been fully identified.

At Bhayangkara Level III Hospital in Padang, 61 bodies were logged; 35 have been identified, while 26 remain under examination, including victims whose remains were found dismembered.

The highest number of fatalities was recorded at the Agam Disaster Management Command Post, which handled 106 victims. Of those, 103 have been identified — 45 men and 61 women. In West Pasaman, all three reported victims have been identified.

The Bukittinggi Command Post processed 10 victims, all confirmed — five men and five women. Meanwhile, Padang Panjang recorded 15 fatalities, with 13 identified: six men and seven women.

Authorities say the identification process will continue as more remains are recovered, with teams working around the clock to provide clarity for grieving families.
