Solo: President Prabowo Subianto announced that he will provide scholarships for medical personnel. This is an effort to meet the need for doctors, nurses, and other medical personnel.
Prabowo made this statement at the inauguration of the Emirates-Indonesia Cardiology Hospital in Solo, Central Java, on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. Prabowo expressed his commitment to significantly improving hospital services.
"We need a lot of additional doctors: dentists, nurses, and paramedics, and we will also carry out expansion, additional facilities, and extensive education for doctors and nurses," Prabowo said in Solo, Central Java, on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
Prabowo has received a report from Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin regarding the addition of 30 new medical faculties. Prabowo has approved it and will increase the budget allocation for medical education.
"The Minister of Health suggested to me that we need to add 30 new medical faculties. I've also asked for an increase in student allocations for the existing ones, and specifically for doctors, I'm working to ensure that most of them, God willing, can receive full scholarships," Prabowo explained.
Prabowo hopes the government's efforts will become a benchmark for reducing the fatality rate. He hopes this step will reduce the number of Indonesians seeking medical treatment abroad.
"I think this will give new hope to heart patients; they don't have to travel far abroad for treatment. We have excellent and top-notch facilities," Prabowo said.
